Stockdog training
We offer stockdog training. We have a flock of approximately 40 Katahdin and Barbado sheep and occassionally have cattle and ducks. We have an ASCA regulation size sheep and duck arena, a 60 foot round pen and 20 acres of fenced in pastures for training.
Our training techniques are designed to bring out the natural instinct in the dog. We strive to let the dog learn by ‘doing’. We set the dog up to succeed and gain valuable experience through their success. The dog learns how to control the stock on their own instead of relying on obedience commands from the handler.
Our training program has proven results. Together Michael and Allison have earned four Working Trial Champion titles with Australian Shepherds. Roper and Michael were also Champion Sheep Dog at the 2004 ASCA National Sheep Trial in Paso Robles, CA. Roper beat over 100 dogs to earn this award!
We offer boarding/training on stock. However, before we agree to accept a dog into training, it must pass a basic instinct test.
